No, not an "occasional" pond. It and two others in the preserve are fed by Irwin Creek, formerly called Big Sugar Creek, named for the Sugaw Indians who once lived in the area. The creek has a long and varied history, and figures prominently in the early development of this region.
Nice image, Jim. My impression is that it's an "occasional" pond - on the occasion of lots of rain?
