I forgot to mention that quite a few storms went south of us, so the wildflower season is supposed to be great in Death Valley.
I think the problem with large water projects is that the cost is too great. The California water project essentially goes from Lake Shasta and its drainage to large storage reservoirs in central and southern California, along with a canal from the Colorado River. But this drought covered the entire west coast, including Seattle, and I think Colorado also had a drought problem. So the system would probably have to cover the entire country.
: Although the season started to look like a good el Niņo year for us, February was a bust, precip-wise, for us, too.
: I've often wondered why we don't have a national aqueduct system that would redistribute excess runoff as part of a flood mitigation system. Obviously, such a system would be a huge engineering effort, but one with real benefit.
