I think that the red opening is another window. There really isn't anything obscuring the lower structure. Off on the right are the remains of an older structure, with just the doorway and rear wall remaining, so I assume that the door is on the side facing that structure.
The light was wonderful. This series was shot from a moving bus window while returning from an outing.
There is a black spot in the far left sky that I thought might have been dirt on the sensor, but, upon closer examination, is a bird, maybe an eagle?
